How to set item availability and change quantity on hand from the Restaurant POS

When availability is configured, when you access the order entry screen you will see the available quantity on hand or if the item is unavailable. Unavailable items cannot be added to an order until a supervisor edits the quantity on hand or removes the limit. Working with item availability also enables you to create an item countdown at the POS. Each time an employee adds the item to a guest check, the Point of Sale app decrements the quantity on hand.

NOTE:
If you use multiple POS devices at a location and do not use a local server, the system cannot synchronize item availability across devices. 

There are two ways to edit item availability:

  • Using the Enter Quantity on Hand at the POS home screen
  • Long-pressing the item on the order entry screen

To set item availability at the home screen

  1. From the Point of Sale app slide-out menu ☰,  tap Enter Quantity on Hand.
  2. Tap the category containing the items for which you want to enter an item amount.
  3. Tap the item for which you want to enter a limit.
  4. Enter the item quantity.
  5. Tap Done. The item will show the updated quantity on hand.
  6. Select another item for which to enter an item quantity, or tap the arrow at the top left of the screen to exit.

To set item availability at the order entry screen

  1. At the order entry screen, long-press the item for which you want to enter a quantity.
  2. Tap Enter Quantity on Hand.
  3. Enter the item quantity.
  4. Tap Done.
