Digital gift cards are sold through a website that you can link to your company website and also advertise through marketing communications. To purchase a digital gift card, your customers will go to the website to select the gift card image that they would like and load the digital card. The gift card will then be delivered to the purchaser or directly to the recipient via text or email. Digital gift card purchases will be reported on the Gift Card Summary Report.
Digital gift card setup
Begin by setting up your digital gift card ordering website.
To setup a digital gift card website
- In Point of Sale Solution Back Office, select Gift Cards & Loyalty > Digital Gift Cards.
- To enable digital gift card sales, in Basic Settings > Items > Products tab, find the product named Digital Gift Card and set the Status to Active.
- Use the Copy URL and/or QR Code links to add a link from your online site or link your marketing communications or printed materials that you want to use to advertise digital gift cards for sale. These links will help your customers find your online ordering site and setup their own digital card.
- In Available images, select gift card image(s) to make available for your customers to order.
- (Optional) Enter a Caption for your gift card sales website.
- Click on Color to use the color picker to set a site theme color.
- Upload your Logo, following the stated guidelines.
- Update your website terms and policies, as needed. Your digital gift card site will display the same footer, terms and conditions, and privacy policy that you have set up for your online site.
- Designate an Employee from the dropdown list that will manage your digital gift cards.
- Assign a Register to the gift card sales. This is the register that will report the gift card sales.
Digital card purchases
When your customer purchases a digital gift card from your site, they will choose the gift card amount, enter their name and contact information, and then enter the name and contact information for the recipient. The recipient of the gift card can also be the purchaser. The gift card will be sent immediately.
When the gift card recipient receives their email or text, they will click the link and enter their secret key to activate the card. Once activated, the card may be added to the recipient's digital wallet.
Digital gift card refunds
If a customer makes a mistake during the ordering process, you can cancel the inactive gift card and provide a refund. For example, you may cancel a digital gift card order sent to the wrong recipient.
IMPORTANT!
You will not be able to refund a digital gift card that has already been activated.
