How to use Quick Sale to take a MobilePOS app payment

Use Quick Sale to take a payment for an item that is not pre-defined in your inventory. The Quick Sale screen is the default screen that displays after login to the MobilePOS app on your device.

To take a Quick Sale payment

  1. Enter the amount for the sale. To quickly add several items together, use the keypad as a calculator.

  2. (Optional) Enter a description for the sale.
  3. Tap Checkout.
  4. Add an order number or a note, if desired. The tax options for your sale will be determined by your tax settings.

  5. Add a discount, if desired.
    To add a discount to a quick sale
    1. Select a preset discount percentage amount or tap the toggle to discount a preset dollar amount then tap the amount of the discount.

    2. Tap Confirm. The cart view displays showing the discount applied.
  6. Select a payment type:
    Cash
    1. (Optional) In Pay field, enter the cash amount tendered by the customer. The change due will appear.
    2. Tap Pay

    NOTE: Cash transactions are for tracking purposes only and are not included in the settlement amount or deposit. Cash transactions will not be visible in your Merchant Portal reporting in Business Advantage 360, but can be tracked in MobilePOS Dashboard reports.

    Credit card
    1. Tap Card.
    2. Dip, tap, or swipe the card in the reader:

      • Chip Cards
      • Magnetic Stripe
      • Contactless
      • For chip card transactions, insert the card with the chip side first and face up.

        Pay attention to the track position of the magnetic stripe card. Swipe the card smoothly from either direction at a constant speed as shown.

        To use a contactless payment, hold the card or device within two inches of the top of the mobile card reader near the contactless icon. If using a mobile device, the customer must approve the payment on their device.

    Manual key credit card
    1. Tap Manual.
    2. Choose Card Present or Not Present.
    3. Manually enter the credit card information: 
      • Card Number
      • Expiration Date (MMYY)
      • Card Security Code on the back of the card or, if American Express, the 4-digit code on the front of the card
      • ZIP code for the credit card billing address; must be numeric and a minimum of 5 numbers. If the billing address is international, use the Virtual Terminal to manually key the sale instead.

    4. Once all the needed information is entered, tap Pay
    5. If the Address Verification prompt appears, choose Yes to continue the transaction or No to cancel. 
      • This prompt appears if the ZIP code or address entered for the payment does not match the card information on record at the issuing bank. 

        IMPORTANT! Continuing the transaction may result in increased risk of fraud. 

  7. If you accept tips, your customer selects the tip amount and then clicks Confirm. To manually enter a tip amount, click on the Tip field above or select from the quick tip options.

  8. Select a receipt option:

    Email ReceiptEnter the email address of the customer. Tap Send Receipt.
    Text ReceiptEnter the cell phone number of the customer.  Tap Send Receipt.
    Print ReceiptSelect a connected Wi-Fi printer on your network and then tap Print
    No ReceiptNo receipt will generate.
