Use the QR code feature to generate and download smart QR codes that allow customers to view, order, and pay on the Online Ordering site. QR codes can be generated for all fulfillment types (dine in, pick up, curbside, and menu only) directly in the Online Ordering Back Office extension.

What is a QR Code? 
A QR (quick response) code is a type of barcode that can be read by a digital device such as a phone or scanner. 

There are two ways to use QR codes in Online Ordering: 

  • Marketing materials and social media
    Add a QR code to your marketing materials/flyers or social media accounts. Your customers can scan the QR code with their phone to be directed straight to your Online Ordering menu, place an order, and pay. You can configure different QR codes that enable your clients to place/pay for pickup, curbside or dine-in orders, or just view the menu.
  • Dine in table orders
    Create and print out unique QR codes for each table in your restaurant for Dine In fulfillment orders. 
    When an customer uses the Dine In path, they scan the QR code at their table and this will lead them to your Online Ordering website and automatically pre-fill the unique table identifier. 

Scanning a QR code can expedite the checkout process, as the customer does not have to select their fulfillment type or, for dine-dine, validate table the table number. Rather, when they visit the checkout page, the customer fulfillment type will automatically be selected and applied.

Before you set up QR Codes, configure and enable order fulfillment types to download the matching QR code.

To generate your QR code
  1. In Back Office, select the Online Order tab. 
  2. In the left navigation, select QR Codes.
  3. Select an order fulfillment type:
    Order Fulfillment TypeDescription
    PickupCreate a QR code for Pickup fulfillment. 
    Dine InGenerates a QR code to auto-populate the order with the customer's table number.
    You can generate and download a single table code by selecting the table from the dropdown list or you can generate and download the QR codes for all of your tables. The number of tables is configured when you set up Order Fulfillment.
    CurbsideSelect the option and then click Download to download the QR code. When the customer uses the code, their order will auto-populate with curbside pickup but the customer will still need to enter their vehicle information.
    View MenuSelect View Menu and then download to create a QR that opens your website to begin their order.
  4. Click Download. 
To edit the QR code style
  1. In Back Office, select the Online Order tab. 
  2. In the left navigation, select Style Controls.
  3. In the QR Code Styles section, customize your QR code font, font color and background color.
  4. Click Save.
