Weight Scale Configuration
Description
What's in this article?
The integrated weight scale allows you to weigh an item then automatically sends the weight to the Point of Sale app to calculate the price for you. You can select to connect with the scale via USB connection.
For more detailed information on the MG-S8200 weight scale, please see the Scale Support Guide.
IMPORTANT!
Prior to configuring the weight scale, add at least one item to your inventory that is priced by weight. If you do not configure an item to be priced by weight, you will not see the Configure Scales setting in the Point of Sales app Settings options. When adding an item to your inventory or menu, select the Sold by: Weight/Measure option in the Pricing, Cost, and Taxes section, then select the Use Scale checkbox and choose a unit of measure from the dropdown and enter a Tare weight, if needed.
Connect the scale to the terminal
The Smart Terminal E700 and the Smart Register E800 support the use of the weight scale. You can connect the scale directly to the payment terminal using a USB cable.
To connect the scale using the USB cable
- Attach the USB cable to the weight scale.
- Attach the cable to the USB port of the terminal. The USB port will be on the bottom or back of the terminal.
- Attach the power cord and plug in to power.
- Power on the scale by pressing the On/Off button on the front display.
- Log on to the payment terminal and open the Point of Sale app.
- From the Point of Sale app slide-out menu ☰, tap My Hardware. Check for confirmation that the weight scale is connected. My Hardware should show "USB Scale – Connected".
Use the weight scale
To add a weighed item to a sale, place the item on the scale and then in the Point of Sale app ticket entry screen, add the weighted item to the ticket. The item will display with the calculated weight. Tap Done to add the item. The weight limit for the scale is 18 pounds.
NOTE:
If you add the item to the sale before putting the item on the weight scale, the Point of Sale will prompt to put the item on the scale or manually enter the weight.
