  • Thank you for choosing the Compact A8700 countertop terminal from Bank of America.
  • This video is here to help you set up your terminal and prepare to take payments, so feel free to stop, rewind, and rewatch any sequence.
  • Inside the box, you'll find a welcome kit including a welcome letter with a QR code and link to online information, a quick set-up guide, and a card-acceptance decal.
  • Now, remove your terminal - which is powered down - and make sure you have both parts of the power cord, a few rolls of receipt paper, and an Ethernet cable under the terminal unit.
  • Remove the cover on the bottom to find several labeled ports for connecting power, Ethernet, and USB cables.
  • Attach both parts of the power cord together, connect it to the green labeled port marked "DC24V," replace the cover, and plug the unit into an outlet.
  • The terminal will power up and both screens should illuminate when it's plugged in for the first time, and the Bank of America payment application will open automatically.
  • You can also turn it off or on by holding the power button for 3 to 5 seconds.
  • Now, to get your unit online, you will either need to plug an Ethernet cable connected to a network into the grey labeled port marked "LAN Ethernet" and replace the underside cover, or you can connect your terminal to a Wi-Fi® network.
  • Swipe down from the top of the larger screen and you'll see the controls to turn on your Wi-Fi® connection.
  • You will need to have the name and password for your secure Wi-Fi® network.
  • Once you have connected, you'll only have one more step before you're ready to go.
  • Gently press down on the blue latch release to open the printer paper door.
  • Place a fresh roll of paper with the end extending from the top about two inches above the roll.
  • Then close the door again, leaving the top of the paper extended outside the door.
  • Now you are able to accept payments and give printed receipts.
  • Customers can view the purchase information on the front screen, where they can tap their card or mobile device to pay.
  • They could also insert a chip card, face up and chip side first, just below the customer screen, or, if the chip can't be read, they can swipe the card with the magnetic stripe facing the body of the terminal on the side.
  • Now, you should be ready to take payments with your new Compact A8700 terminal.
