How to configure your Point of Sale Solution device settings

You can configure the various settings on your device to suit your preferences such as: display brightness, volume and key sounds, and language settings. Additionally, you may need to determine the IP address of your device to complete hardware setup for your Point of Sale Solution. 

Access the Settings menu

Settings options will vary depending on the device. For example, Ethernet connection may not be an option if your device does not have an Ethernet port. Additionally, screens may appear different for your device depending on the screen size and orientation of the device.

To access the Settings menu


  1. From the home screen, tap Settings.

  2. Enter the password: pax9876@@

  3. Tap Done. The Settings menu displays. You may need to scroll to find the desired option.

To exit after updating, tap the circle icon at the bottom of the screen or press the red Cancel key on the device keypad.


Wi-Fi

You can enable or disable Wi-Fi connection or update the connection to  Wi-Fi through the pull-down option available from any screen or through the Settings options. Learn more about connecting to  and troubleshooting Wi-Fi.

Bluetooth

If your device allows Bluetooth pairing, access the Bluetooth options in Settings. Refer to your device setup guide for instructions on pairing.

Ethernet

Ethernet connection occurs automatically when you connect the Ethernet cable to the Ethernet port on the device or communications hub. Not all devices are Ethernet-compatible. You can disable Ethernet connection through Settings or set up a static IP for Ethernet connectivity. Learn more about connecting to Ethernet.

Cellular

Cellular-enabled devices ship with their SIM card installed. Refer to Cellular Connection for details on how to enable cellular connection. To use cellular communication, disable the Wi-Fi. 

IP/ MAC/ Bluetooth address

When configuring your devices, you may need to locate the IP, MAC, or Bluetooth address for your device. Ensure your device is connected to Wi-Fi before attempting to locate the IP address. 

To locate the IP, MAC, or Bluetooth address for your device
  1. Access Settings, then scroll to the System section and tap About device.

  2. If prompted, enter the Settings password again, then tap the green confirm button.
  3. Scroll down to view the IP address, MAC address and Bluetooth address.

System time and date

The Android operating system of the device automatically manages the date and time, based on the geolocation of the device. If the device is located in a time zone that observes Daylight Savings Time (DST), the time will automatically update at the appropriate time. You can manually set the time zone, if desired.

To manually set the time zone
  1. Access Settings, scroll to the System section and tap Date and Time

  2. Turn off Automatic time zone

  4. Tap Time zone.

  5. Scroll and tap the desired time zone. Once the new time zone is selected, the time in the device will automatically adjust for the new time zone. Setting the time will not be necessary.

Display settings

You can manage device display settings for brightness, and font size.  You can quickly adjust the display brightness and sound volume by pulling down from the top of the screen. Use the sliders on the top right to adjust brightness and sound. If accessed through the pull-down view, the Settings password is not required to change these settings.

NOTE: 
We recommend leaving sleep settings options at the default of Never. This ensures that the device is ready for end of day settlement out and any software updates that may be required. If you need to conserve power or want the device to appear shutdown, press the Power button briefly to manually turn off the display. Press the Power button again to return.

To change brightness settings

You can access brightness settings quickly by pulling down from the top of the device display and then sliding to adjust brightness or you can change it by accessing the Settings menu and selecting Display > Brightness level, then adjusting as desired. 

  1. Pull down from the top of the screen.
  2. Slide to decrease or increase the brightness.

  1. Access Settings, then tap Display.

  3. Select a font size option. 

Volume and key sound settings

You can adjust the sound volume and whether sounds are enabled for key presses on the device. General volume control is also available from the pull-down options from any page.

To adjust sound volume
  1. Access Settings, then tap Sound.

  2. Slide Media volume, Alarm volume and Notification volume to adjust. Mute by sliding all the way left.

    NOTE: Enable Silent mode to silence all three sound settings.

Language settings

The default language setting on your device is English (US). You may change the language to allow typing in the desired language for the device. 

NOTE: 
The language in the Point of Sale application does not update. Only English is available.

To set language and input options
  1. Access Settings, then tap Language & input.

  3. Tap on the language you would like to add.

  4. The added language will display in your language list. To change the preference for the language, drag the added language into the first position on the list.

To remove an added language

  1. To remove an added language, tap the ⋮ menu in the top right corner.

  2. Tap Remove.

  3. Select the language to remove from the list, then tap the Delete (trashcan) icon above.

  4. Tap Remove to confirm removing the language. 


Daily reboot

Your terminal will reboot each day. The scheduled time for the reboot is between 5-6 am local time. If this timing will not work for your business, contact us to schedule an alternative daily reboot time.

Can I disable the reboot feature?

The reboot feature may not be disabled. It is required to maintain PCI security for terminal data.

What happens if I have an open batch during the reboot?

If the reboot occurs while a batch is open, the batch will not be impacted. When the reboot happens, the application will automatically reopen.

Can I change the time of day that the terminal reboots?

The scheduled time for the reboot is between 5-6 am local time. If this timing will not work for your business, contact us to schedule an alternative daily reboot time. Daily reboot time is set for all of your devices. You will not be able to set a unique time for a single device.
