- To start, open your box. Inside, you'll find a welcome kit including a welcome letter, a quick set-up guide and a card acceptance decal for your location, along with other useful and important information.
- Now, remove your card reader, which is powered down, and before turning it on, you'll want to fully charge it using the USB type C port on the side by plugging it into any USB-C power adapters or computer ports using the included cord.
- Blinking red means it's charging, and once it's a solid green, you're fully charged and ready to activate your card reader.
- Once you're fully charged, hold down the power button on the side, here, until it beeps.
- Then release.
- You can also power down the card reader the same way.
- Once your card reader is on, open your Bluetooth settings on your mobile phone or tablet and make sure Bluetooth is active.
- Also confirm that you have downloaded the BofA Point of Sale Mobile app on the device, either from Google Play or the Apple App Store.
- If you don't have the app yet, pause this video, download the app and refer to your welcome email for instructions on how to set up your password and log-in. On the first login, a prompt to allow "Mobile POS" to use your location will appear. Select "Allow while using the app."
- Now that you're logged into the app, it should automatically detect your card reader and prompt you to pair via Bluetooth.
- You may also be prompted to download the latest firmware.
- If so, allow the firmware to update prior to proceeding any further.
- Then, follow the prompts until you get confirmation that your card reader has paired successfully.
- Now that your card reader is powered on and paired with your mobile phone, you're ready to take payments.
- Using the app, you can begin a transaction.
- For most credit cards, you can use tap to pay by holding the card or mobile device within two inches of this symbol on the card reader.
- For chip cards, insert them chip side in, facing up in the opening at the bottom of the card reader.
- If the chip doesn't read, you can swipe cards using the slot just above, with the magnetic stripe at the top and the card facing up as well.
- Also, please be aware that the Mobile Card Reader cannot process debit card transactions that require a PIN.
- Now you should be ready to take payments with your Mobile Card Reader D135.
